Please join Fiona Neal & Brazen Edwards for their Art Exhibition Opening on April 7th from 6:30 - 8:30pm
The show runs until May 13th 2018 at the Peachland Public Art Gallery.
This exhibition highlights two opposing approaches to abstract painting to challenge the dichotomy between intuition and rational thought. In our contemporary world of social upheaval and conflict this body of work reaches deeply into our own awareness exploring themes of identity and self-acceptance as well as psychological empirical methods.
FIONA NEAL ARTIST STATEMENT
Fiona has been exploring the portrayal of emotion in her abstract painting for some time. More recently she has become fascinated by the unstoppable flow of emotion that pours from her at the point where spontaneous painting gives over to true intuitive expression. This particular series of works is a gritty exposing self portrait. It’s a true un-embellished portrayal of raw emotion that stands as a testament to her life's journey. These pieces draw the viewer in to their own emotional response, triggered by the tangible undulating flow of emotional experience that is found within them.
BRAZEN EDWARDS ARTIST STATEMENT
Brazen’s modernist abstraction explores the concept of line and form seducing the viewer into a world of ongoing equilibrium of flowing pigment that often portrays themes relating to her former career in Criminology. Movement is depicted and exists to punctuate a disconcerting visual drama as she endeavours to create an exploration between the viewer’s reality and the one imagined by its conceiver allowing a glimpse into the subconscious.
